Ravens Injuries Slowly Increase Heading into Preseason

The Baltimore Ravens are heading into the preseason with more than a few injuries. This is starting to become a bad trend for the Ravens. After the team had a record of 20 players on injured reserve in 2015 and 19 players in 2014 , they made some changes to the training program. Did it help?

CB Tavon Young

Young was the first player in what seems to be a long list of injured players heading into the preseason. He tore his ACL during the OTAs this offseason. He was expected to have another great performance this season like he did last season, ranking 26th among cornerbacks in the NFL. He would have started opposite veteran cornerback Jimmy Smith this season.

RB Kenneth Dixon

Dixon suffered a “bucket-handle meniscus tear,” and will be out for the season, as reported by Ryan Mink of The injury occurred while he was training at his alma mater, Louisiana Tech. This will be his second major injury. His first was last season when he tore his MCL.

QB Joe Flacco

Flacco injured his back while lifting weights in his home. It was first believed that he would be out the first week of training camp. Later reports started surfacing that he could be out for three to six weeks. There is no timeline on his return although it is believed to be short-term.

TE Crockett Gillmore

He suffered a season-ending injury when he tore his MCL in his knee during practice last Friday. It has been reported that his ligament has been repaired and will require a five months of rehab. He just returned from two shoulder surgeries. He has suffered with multiple injuries through-out his past three seasons.

CB Maurice Canady

Canady injured his knee during Friday’s practice. He had knee surgery on Monday and although his condition is not season-ending, he will be out for an extended period of time. He was impressive in the mini-camp practices and was expected to replace Tavon Young in the slot position.

OL Nico Siragusa

Siragusa tore multiple ligaments in his knee during Tuesday’s practice and had to be carted off the field. While performing a drill, another teammate fell on his legs. This rookie was a fourth-round selection and will have a season-ending injury before he had a season.
